Palm Springs

Mid-century cool in the desert.

Palm Springs became Hollywood’s desert playground in the 1950s, and its low, glass-walled mid-century houses and hotels are still the star. Land at Palm Springs International, a few minutes from downtown, see the warbirds at the Palm Springs Air Museum on the field, ride the tram 8,500 feet up Mount San Jacinto, lie by a pool at a design hotel, and drive to Joshua Tree for sunset.
